For snow enthusiasts at Sun Peaks, this weekend is winter’s last hurrah.

Today is the last day of the season at the Kamloops resort, and skiers and snowboarders are enjoying their last runs before the mountain shuts down.

Resort officials say they have been experiencing steady growth every year, but say this season was especially good.

The president says the numbers are up roughly six per cent from last year.

“It was a great season, especially a great early start for us with the lack of snow in the Lower Mainland,” says Jim Kenny from Jardine’s Ski and Snowboard Rentals. “We had a lot of people from Washington, Lower Mainland, Vancouver coming up that otherwise might not have.”

A number of ski resorts remain open around B.C., including Whistler Blackcomb, the North Shore Mountains, Mount Washington and Revelstoke Mountain.
