TORONTO – This is why you don’t drive around railway crossing gates.
A careless driver tried to beat a Houston METRO commuter train Wednesday by ignoring the railway crossing gates only to be hit by a speeding train.
The SUV can be seen performing a U-turn before zig-zagging around the closed gates and flashing red warning lights.
The vehicle was dragged several feet before the train stopped.
According to KHOU Houston, two adults and two children were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was ticketed for running a red light and ignoring a railway crossing.
