A busy section of East Hastings Street is back open this morning after fire crews were kept busy with a stubborn blaze in a Downtown Eastside high-rise.

The fire was first reported around nine last night.
Smoke was seen coming from the eighth floor of the Washington Hotel rooming house near Main and Hastings.
The building is currently being renovated and does not have a sprinkler system.
No one was hurt.
