TORONTO – Two people were killed Thursday after being hit head-on by an out-of-control truck in Smithville, Ontario.
The fatal crash happened just before noon Thursday on Regional Road 20 in Smithville, a small town between Hamilton and St. Catharines.
A witness to the crash told police a car was driving southbound, lost control and clipped a pickup in the northbound lanes.
That pickup spun out and hit a third vehicle head-on, killing the two people inside.
Police are investigating and the roads will be closed for several hours as they reconstruct the accident.

Weather is believed to be a factor, police said.
The driver of the first vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the truck was unharmed.
