The Vancouver Aquarium’s Marine Mammal Rescue Centre has another critical case on its hands.
A sea otter was close to death when he was found on a Vancouver Island beach in late February. Staff at the rescue centre have named the otter Whiffen, after Whiffen Spit where he was found.

It appears he had injured his hind flipper, which prevented him from gathering food, leaving him starving.
The rescue centre says it’s too early to tell if Whiffen will survive, but he is getting 24-hour care.
