WATCH: Vancouver Canucks return home from Sochi with their gold medals

Vancouver Canucks players Roberto Luongo and Dan Hamhuis returned home to Vancouver on Monday after their gold medal win in Sochi.

The hockey players were not wearing their medals, but said the whole experience could not have been any better.

I’ve never seen a team play quite like that,” said Luongo. “I was really impressed, a great group of guys, I think we gelled well together.”

Luongo said the entire experience at the games was great. “It was nothing but fantastic, it was really well done, the village was beautiful, everything was right there, it was great,” he said.

Hamhuis, who won his first Olympic gold medal, agreed that the whole experience was a lot of fun.

“We couldn’t have asked for better accommodations, really everything was excellent,” he said.

He described the team was a ‘tight-knit group.’

“Going back to the summer we did a lot of team-building exercises in Calgary and I think it really paid off for us,” he said.
