The photographer ran along the highway until he found a police officer and told him about the infant in distress.
Fellow motorist Lucila Godoy left her 3-year-old son in the car to help Rauseo revive the infant, according to the Herald.
Diaz captured gut-wrenching images as Rauseo performed CPR on the lifeless baby.
“As a photojournalist you want to capture these images, but as a human being you want to get help,” Diaz told the Daily News.
Officer Amauris Bastidas assisted with the CPR and the trio was able to get the baby breathing as emergency crews arrived at the scene.
Rauseo said her nephew was born prematurely and had respiratory issues.
The infant was rushed to local hospital and is said to be in stable condition.
