UPDATE 2:15 p.m.: Marissa Mae Louie, 19, has been identified as the victim of Wednesday’s crash, as confirmed by the BC Coroners Service. Next of kin have been notified.
OLIVER B.C.: A single vehicle crash Wednesday has claimed the life of a 19-year-old Oliver woman.
The accident happened just after 6 p.m. on Highway 97 near Road 13 near Oliver.

Police say the woman’s Ford pick-up truck hit a utility pole before the vehicle burst into flames.
“The lone occupant was rushed to South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver by ambulance but was deceased upon arrival,” says Cpl. Shana McLeod with South Okanagan Traffic Services.
RCMP say alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor. Police report that road conditions were good at the time of the crash.
Power was disrupted in the area, but restored once police finished their investigation.
The woman’s identity is not being released.
