CALGARY- Police say a man who was injured in a hit and run Monday morning has died.
It happened around 4 a.m. in the community of Highland Park, at 40 Avenue and Centre Street.
The victim was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition, but did not survive. A number of surrounding streets had to be shut down for the investigation.
Police now say the driver returned to the scene later in the morning; the male suspect is in custody and charges are being considered. No word yet if he was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Investigators are now getting a search warrant for a garage where the vehicle involved is located; they haven’t confirmed whether or not the vehicle matches the earlier description of a gold-coloured Honda they were searching for.
More information is expected to be released Monday afternoon.
