Mount Washington is facing more snow-related problems this weekend, although this time the mountain resort is getting more than they bargained for.

The mountain reopened on Thursday after closing last month due to a lack of snow. With snow in the forecast throughout the weekend, employees were back at work while skiers and snowboarders flocked to the mountain to take advantage of the fresh powder.

But a blizzard in Comox Valley Sunday afternoon caused multiple collisions on Mount Washington Road, also known as Strathcona Parkway.

RCMP warned the public to stay off the route and not drive if at all possible.

The mountain had to close their tube park Sunday after it was buried in snow.

Motorists travelling down from the mountain reported major delays, with many stranded in their vehicles.
