Rainmen, Mill Rats ditch Premier Basketball League

HALIFAX – The owner of the Halifax Rainmen says he is pulling his team out of the Premier Basketball League, joining the Saint John Mill Rats in exiting.

Rainmen president Andre Levingston says he made up his mind to pull out when the Rochester RazorSharks were recently crowned league champions over the Lawton Fort-Sill Cavalry.

Levingston cites the level of officiating during the league’s playoffs for his decision.

He says he is continuing to look at other leagues but insists there will be professional basketball in Halifax next season.

The Premier Basketball League was made up of six teams last season, including the Quebec Kebs and three teams in the United States.
