One man died and another sustained injuries after shots rang out in northeast Calgary late Thursday night.
Police said officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Coral Springs Circle N.E. at about 11 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
Two victims were found at the scene and then taken to hospital where one was later pronounced dead. Police originally said the man who survived sustained life-threatening injuries. As of Friday morning, they said he was considered to be in stable condition.
“It is believed that both men resided at the residence where the shooting occurred, and police are not looking for additional suspects at this time,” police said in a news release. “Officers remain on scene speaking with witnesses and collecting CCTV from the area.”
Police said while homicide detectives are still working to piece together how the violence unfolded, the man who died is currently considered to be the suspect.
“We’ve been able to talk with witnesses at the scene,” Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson told reporters on Friday afternoon. “There was a disagreement between roommates inside the house which escalated to the point of the events that occurred.”

Gregson said investigators believe four people were in the house at the time that shots were fired and it must have been “quite shocking for the other people that were there.”
He added that detectives believe the violence was “not domestic-related, and there’s no indication of any sort of organized crime or gang affiliations with any of the parties.”
“Just a tragic situation that occurred in this house.”
Gregson said the other two people who were in the house when the shooting happened have been co-operative with detectives.
As of noon on Friday, police continued to have part of the street in front of the home and the alley behind it blocked off with police tape.
Police said anyone with information about what happened can call them at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
