Weapons, drugs seized after bust in Saskatoon’s Mayfair neighbourhood

SASKATOON – Five people are facing over 60 charges after Saskatoon police seized drugs and weapons after a bust at a Mayfair neighbourhood residence.

The bust came after a week-long investigation by the Saskatoon integrated drug enforcement street team (SIDEST) lead to a search of the residence in the 1400-block of Avenue B North on Wednesday evening.

Members of SIDEST were aided in the search by the emergency response team (ERT), patrol officers and both the special investigations and integrated organized crime units.

ERT and SIDEST members made several high-risk vehicle stops of people leaving the residence, leading to searches of residences in the 400-block of Henick Crescent and the 200-block of George Road.

Investigators seized numerous weapons including a loaded handgun and shotgun, ammunition and dozens of swords. Four ounces of cocaine, around 190 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and more than $40,000 in cash were also seized.

Four men, 19, 25 and two 23-year-olds, and a 58-year-old woman are charged with drug trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds of crime and numerous weapon charges.

All are scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
