The man convicted of murdering Vic Fraser during a botched Surrey robbery in 1998 is set to appeal his conviction today.
In November of 2011, Gary Johnston was found guilty of second-degree murder, and sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for at least 17 years.

Fraser was attacked after he surprised an intruder inside his sister’s home, and was stabbed nine times.
Johnston fled to Saskatchewan, but was arrested in 2009 after he told an undercover police officer he killed Fraser.
He’s set to appear at BC Supreme Court in Vancouver.
