WINNIPEG – Manitobans will be out and about, enjoying the outdoors this weekend now that the deep freeze is finally over.

Friday was the first time the mercury in Winnipeg reached a single digit since Dec. 2. The balmy temperatures came just in time for the opening of the Red River Mutual skating trail.

“It’s amazing,” said one skater. “It’s lots of fun! An excellent thing for anyone that’s sick of the -30 C weather.”
