Man pleads guilty to string of Saskatoon taxi robberies

SASKATOON – A man who was arrested earlier this week for a string of Saskatoon taxi robberies has pleaded guilty.

Garrett Strongquill admitted to the robberies in court on Friday.

Between November 2013 and January of this year, Strongquill would hire a cab, threaten the driver with a knife before stealing cash and fleeing on foot.

Six drivers were robbed while a seventh attempt was unsuccessful.

None of the drivers was injured.

Strongquill was arrested on Wednesday and charged with six counts of armed robbery and one count of attempted robbery.

He was sentenced to five years in prison.
