Kelowna tagger allegedly identified

Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers

UPDATE: Here is the latest information from RCMP

KELOWNA, B.C. — High quality surveillance camera image and the power of social media have combined to allegedly identify the suspect in a Kelowna vandalism investigation.

Video taken in mid-December by a security camera outside the casino at the Grand Hotel shows a woman defacing the sidewalk and several parking meters with a can of spray paint.

Within a few hours of police releasing the video to the media Wednesday afternoon, and it being posted on the Global Okanagan News website, readers posted the alleged name of the tagger.

Police say they’ve since heard from a lawyer who is arranging for the woman to turn herself in.

When that happens, she will be released on a Promise to Appear in court at a later date to face probable mischief charges.
