MONTREAL – New charges have been laid against a former math teacher from Howard S. Billings High School in Châteauguay.
Crown prosecutors in Valleyfield have filed new sex-related charges involving five additional people, all believed to be former students.
John Drake Johnson is now facing 16 charges, including multiple sexual assault charges, against six alleged victims.
He was first arrested in November 2013 for allegedly sexually molesting one of his former students.

At that time, the 70-year-old faced five charges, including sexual contact with a minor while in a position of authority.
According to court documents obtained by Global News, Johnson’s alleged crimes date back to the 1980’s when he was employed at Howard S. Billings High School.

The former schoolteacher is currently detained.
He is expected to return to court later in January, when he is expected to enter a plea.
Johnson made a formal request for bail a few days before Christmas which was denied.
