WINNIPEG – The cold weather has forced the cancellation of classes in many western Manitoba schools on Monday.

Temperatures are expected to be around -30°C and feel like -49 with the wind chill in the region.

All ten schools in the Fort la Bosse School Division will be closed Monday because of the extreme cold.

They include:

  • Virden Collegiate Institute
  • Virden Junior High School
  • Goulter School
  • Mary Montgomery School
  • Elkhorn School
  • Reston School
  • Kola School
  • Oak Lake Community School
  • Boundary Lane Colony School
  • Plainview Colony School

Brandon School Division will keep all schools open however buses will only run within city limits. An updated post on the division’s website said attendance at school is at the discretion of parents. If a student will not be attending, parents are urged to call the school.
