SASKATOON – Multiple vehicle thefts lead to pursuits but police are still searching for the person believed to be responsible early Friday morning.

Around 5 a.m., a stolen pickup truck was reported in the 1000-block of Lynd Crescent.

Patrol officers quickly located the truck and briefly pursued it.

Officers spotted the vehicle shortly after on 33rd Street and then used a “stop stick” to puncture the tires.

The vehicle was found abandoned.

At 6:25 a.m., a nearby Honda Civic was stolen from the area of 33rd Street and Avenue W.

Two patrol units quickly located the stolen car and pursued it until aborting the chase outside city limits.

Once the stolen car was spotted again it was followed from a distance as it travelled through some outer communities.

This pursuit was aborted shortly before 8 a.m. as it got closer to the city and public safety became a concern.

Police believe it’s likely that the two stolen vehicles are connected.

The investigation is ongoing.
