WEST KELOWNA – Icy road conditions continue to catch Okanagan drivers off guard.

The elderly driver of a Volvo lost control on Boucherie Road Tuesday morning.

The vehicle ended up rolling onto its side – up against some cedar hedges.

The driver was trapped and needed assistance from local fire crews to get out.

He wasn’t injured.

It did not appear the car was equipped with snow tires.

It’s the second single vehicle crash in the Central Okanagan as a result of icy road conditions in the past 24 hours.

On Monday night,  a woman’s car burst into flames after smashing into a tree on Union Road in the Wilden Subdivision.
