Police believe one of the drivers, a 49-year-old Strongfield man, hit the ditch so hard it caused injuries to his chest area.

He was unconscious and not breathing and was declared dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

His name has not been released.

The coroner has ordered an autopsy and Mounties continue to investigate.
