Trailer with groceries bound for Prince Albert goes up in flames

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – Extreme weather may be a factor in a trailer fire outside of Prince Albert, Sask. on Monday morning.

The brakes on a semi heading north on Highway 11 froze-up due to the extreme cold and then caught on fire.

The driver was able to detach the tractor from the trailer. He was not injured.

Prince Albert firefighters were unable to extinguish the fire and the trailer was destroyed.

There is no word on a damage estimate.

Highway 11 was closed for a short period of time but has since reopened.

RCMP say road conditions were good at the time.
