WINNIPEG – A 73-year-old woman died in a house fire in northwest Winnipeg Thursday night.

Fire crews pulled the woman from the home at 325 Tyndall Ave. in Tyndall Park just after 9 p.m.  A witness said it appeared paramedics were trying to resuscitate her as she was rushed to hospital.

A man who lives nearby told Global News the only occupant of the home was a woman with vision and hearing problems who was waiting to be moved elsewhere.

He said responders appeared to be performing CPR on the woman as she was taken from the house and put into an ambulance.

Police later confirmed the woman did not survive.

The fire started in a bedroom and caused approximately $200,000 damage, police said.
