WINNIPEG — Manitoba is launching a review of how real estate agents work in the province, and officials are asking for input from the public on how to make sure house and condo buyers and sellers are treated fairly.

Consumers are being asked for views on issues such as real estate agent fees, duties of agents, bidding up prices and confusion over whether agents are working for the buyer or the seller.

“A home or condo is the biggest purchase a family makes, so Manitobans need to be certain that real estate agents are working on their behalf and charging a reasonable price for their services,” Consumer Protection Minister Ron Lemieux is quoted saying in a news release sent Wednesday. “We want to hear from Manitobans about their experiences and their ideas on what we can do to ensure real estate agents are acting in the best interests of families.”
