KELOWNA–The big switch has been thrown and Candy Cane Lane is lit up and ready to dazzle you this holiday season.
It’s a neighbourhood light display that’s become quite well known in Kelowna.
Almost every house on Collison Rd, Gramiak Rd, and Mary Crt are lit up with lights and other impressive displays.
It’s all an attempt to woo you into taking a tour and helping out with the charity aspect of this effort.
An apple bin located at the entrance to the roads is where home owners ask you to deposit a non-perishable food item before you enjoy the spectacle.
The food is then donated to The Care Society and Freedom’s Door, two local charities.
This is the third year of this neighbourhood effort, led by a group of guys who decorate their own homes then spread out to other houses belonging to people who can’t get the lights up themselves.
Candy Cane Lane is open for viewing any night, but the annual block party will be held this Saturday evening, December 21st.
Santa will be giving away Shaw teddy bears to children, there will be coffee, hot chocolate and live music.
All you need to do is bring along a non-perishable food item.
