SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) is expanding its paramedic training program to Saskatoon.
Until now, SIAST only offered the two-year diploma in Regina.
Expansion of the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) program will increase the number of program seats to 32 in Saskatchewan.
The program provides graduates with the advanced knowledge and skills they require to become an integral part of a pre-hospital emergency health care team.
“This program will allow more advanced care paramedic graduates to fill serious voids in the provincial EMS system,” said Gerry Schriemer, president of the Saskatchewan Emergency Medical Services Association.
SIAST says the province’s health authorities require more ACPs for their rural emergency ambulance services.
