Snow plows turned their attention to Friday to back lanes, as the cleanup from this week’s snowfall continues. Snow has already been cleared from main routes but plows will return to areas that get drifted in.

“Sanding trucks are continuing to work around-the-clock to address conditions on the roadway and improve traction,” the city said in a news release Friday. Twelve to 17 cemtimetres of snow fell Wednesday, and high winds created large snow drifts in some areas.

The city still has no plans to plow residential streets, except in certain cases where drifting of snow causes problems.

“Citizens are asked to contact 311 if their residential street is impassible,” officials say.

Plowing of sidewalks on main routes, bus routes and collector streets is also under way and will continue this weekend. Sidewalks on residential streets will get cleared after that.
