ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, destroys the motor neurons which are an important link in the nervous system, impacting muscles that control your arms, hands and legs. In 90% of cases, ALS occurs randomly in the general population. In the other 5-10% of cases, the disease is inherited. There is no cure for ALS, although the pace of research is accelerating.

The ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia supports people living with ALS and their families. Every year, they lone more than 600 pieces of mobility, breathing, communication, and other types of assistive equipment to people living with ALS at no cost. They also help people navigate the health care system and provide emotional support, as well as home visits and advocacy.

In June 2023, the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia will host four in-person ALS Walk Strong events, in Cape Breton, Halifax, Moncton and Saint John. You can also organize your own Friends and Family walk any time in June

You can find out more or register to join a Walk at www.alswalkstrong.ca
