Family SOS is a local non-profit, child centered organization directed toward building strong and healthy families. As an inclusive family support agency, Family SOS offers FREE comprehensive programs that will benefit all family members. At Family SOS, we work to reach children and youth in the home, in the school, and in the community at large.

As Family SOS continues to recover and rebuild following the COVID-19 pandemic, families in the HRM will continue to feel the profound effects of the pandemic for the foreseeable future. At Family SOS, we’ve made critical changes to our programming to address these issues and meet families where they are.

• Food Support which provides 150+ local families weekly supplemental food packages

• Virtual in-home parenting support

• Virtual Positive Parenting groups

• Outdoor summer programming for the Healthy Kidz Program

• Weekly Healthy Teenz drop in and activities

You can help combat these impacts and continue to provide much needed support and assistance to Halifax families. This would not be possible without you – your support is needed and appreciated!

In 2021, Family SOS hosted their first ever “Dine-Out in Support of Family SOS.” Sponsored by Officer Interiors, this was a successful grassroots initiative designed around a whole community coming together. The GRAND PRIZE was over $2300 in gift cards to local food and beverage establishments in the HRM and allowed ticket purchasers to not only support their favourite HRM food/beverage locales but also contribute to Family SOS’ Back to School Initiative. The Back to School Initiative outfitted over 250 children with running shoes, a new backpack and school supplies.
