Known as the “Mysticssippi Bluesman”, six-time Juno Award nominee Harry Manx marries east and west, classical and blues, and Hindustani and North American sounds in projects built on his signature Indo-blues sound, blending Indian folk melodies with slide guitar blues, gospel and some compelling grooves for music that is hard to resist, easy to digest and keeps audiences coming back for more. Performing on his 20 stringed Mohan Veena, a distinct plucked string instrument used in Indian classical music, he is joined by the versatile Yaletown String Quartet at The ACT. Manx has also performed this music with string quartets at Koerner Hall in Toronto, the Montreal Jazz Festival, and the Banff Centre for the Arts, believing that it is in the live performance “that the bridge between “heavenly” India and “earthy” American blues is most effectively built.” The Yale town String Quartet Mark Ferris, Cameron Wilson, violins Tony Kastelic, viola Finn Manniche, cello
