Join us for “Making Music, War, and Peace” at the 2019 Canadian School of Peacebuilding with instructor Svanibor Pettan. Courses are available for professional development, personal inspiration or academic credit. This course, which is well-suited to students, community organizers, musicians, and researchers will engage applied ethomusicological research in regions have experienced armed violent conflict, examining what has been learned about music’s role in these contexts, with particular reference to south-east Europe over the past 100 years. Svanibor’s film, Kosovo Through the Eyes of Local Romani (Gypsy) Musicians, will be presented and will serve as a basis for discussion. Find out more at csop.cmu.ca and apply before April 1, 2019.
