This year’s theme is “Breastfeeding: The Foundation of Life.” Breastfeeding is a universal solution that levels the playing field, giving everyone a fair start in life. It improves the health, wellbeing and survival of women and children around the world. This World Breastfeeding Week, let’s join hands to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding as the foundation of life. To celebrate and kick off World Breastfeeding Week, be sure to come to our annual Kelowna Breastfeeding Challenge on Saturday, September 29th, 2018, at The Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market! This fun-filled event brings women and families together to celebrate and promote breastfeeding in our community. If you are breastfeeding (or pumping), you can participate in the ‘latch on’ at 11:00 am, where we “compete” for most babies breastfed at one time in a single location! Please make sure to bring a blanket or chair to sit on. There will be sites participating in Canada, as well as around the world! Let’s show the world that Kelowna, BC, supports breastfeeding!
