7th Annual Push To End Homelessness

Everyone in Kelowna is invited to attend this year’s 7th Annual Push To End Homelessness, a community spirit celebration presented by Inn from the Cold (IFTC) – Kelowna. Join residents and businesses from Kelowna in this fun-filled, shopping cart race and BBQ in Kerry Park. Lets show the world that Kelowna cares about people experiencing homelessness. The Push to End Homelessness acknowledges that homelessness is a community problem – one requiring a community solution. By bringing the community together for this fun, family event, IFTC hopes to inform and inspire local residents on how we can pull together and help put an end to homelessness. Pledged race participants will decorate their carts at Kerry Park at 9:00am, on Saturday, September 29th. Participants will then be led on a series of mini challenges throughout the downtown core of Kelowna. All teams are expected to have completed the course and meet at Kerry Park around noon. At this time participants will then enjoy a BBQ lunch and celebration, with valuable prizes awarded to the teams with the most pledges raised, top finishers, and best decorated cart. There will be both adult and youth prize categories. Local businesses can support the Push to End Homelessness by sponsoring a team, funding the event, hosting a table at Kerry Park, making a pledge to an existing team, or by donating a prize. Everyone that wants to help is invited to: 1. Form a team and raise pledges – team goal is to raise $1000 – this sponsors one person for a month and a half stay at our shelter. 2. Attend the delicious BBQ lunch at Kerry Park where 100% of proceeds go directly towards helping persons experiencing homelessness in Kelowna. SCHEDULE: 9:00am – 10:00am – Cart Decoration @ Kerry Park 10:00am – Ribbon Ceremony, commenced by Mayor Colin Basran 10:00am – 12:30pm – Shopping Cart Race around the downtown core 12:30pm – 1:30pm – BBQ, prizes, and live music @ Kerry Park.
