Light On PTSD charity bike ride - image

CKNW is proud to support the Light On PTSD 24 hour charity bike relay.

Light On PTSD is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver that raises awareness, offers resources, and raises funds for those struggling with the staggering impact of post traumatic stress. PTSD doesn’t only effect those in uniform such as First Responders and Military, it can effect any one, at any age, at any time.

As PTSD is a struggle 24/7 we decided a 24 hour ride on the 24th day of the 7th month would be a great annual event date. We were the first 24 hour event to be held in Stanley Park and are excited to have the opportunity to do it all over again this year. Come down and meet the team, buy a shirt and ball cap, enter our amazing raffle, and go for a spin with the team! We look forward to meeting you!

This year our fundraising goal is to raise $10,000 for Honour House in Vancouver. Excess funds will go toward future donations and initiatives in raising awareness around post traumatic stress disorder.

What is PTSD? PTSD is a serious condition that can develop after a person has experienced or witnessed a traumatic or terrifying event in which serious physical harm occurred or was threatened. PTSD is a lasting consequence of traumatic ordeals that cause intense fear, helplessness, or horror, such as a sexual or physical assault, the unexpected death of a loved one, an accident, war, or natural disaster. Families of victims can also develop PTSD, as can emergency personnel and rescue workers, first responders, journalists…..to name a few.
