Weekend Sports Anchor

Anthony Bruno demonstrates his passion for sports as Global’s weekend Sports Anchor.

Bruno is a graduate of the Radio and Television Arts program at Ryerson University, and former on-air personality at Sportsnet.

He got his start in the media industry as the host of High School Sports Zone on Rogers TV Toronto where he covered amateur sport in the city and served as the play-by-play commentator for some of the biggest high school sporting events in Toronto. He later went on to win Season 5 of Gillette Drafted: The Search for Canada’s Next Sportscaster.

While at Sportsnet, Bruno covered the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and the 2015 Australian Open, and served as the update anchor for Tim and Sid and Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown. He also hosted the Sportsnet Plays of the Month.

Bruno has been an athlete his entire life, and continues to play sports all year round. One of his favourite hobbies is fantasy sports, as he loves putting his sports and statistical knowledge to the test against anyone.
