Sport: Snowboarding

Age: 33

Hometown: Petite-Rivière-St-Francois, Que.

Accomplishments:

  • 2006 Olympic Bronze Medallist.
  • 2013 World Championship Silver Medallist.
  • Four-time Snowboard Cross Crystal Globe winner.

Interesting Fact: After a bronze in 2006, Maltais entered Vancouver 2010 with high expectations. She suffered a major blow when she crashed in a practice run just half an hour before the first qualifying run and didn’t end up advancing past the round.

Chances: Maltais is coming in to the Olympic Games having won three straight Crystal Globes in Snowboard Cross as the overall World Cup champion. She is one of the top female competitors and someone who could easily end up on the podium in Sochi.
