Ontario's announcement comes just hours after the federal health minister on Sunday said provinces were "free to use" the vaccine on age groups 18 and above.

Fifteen people were injured earlier this month when two train carriages derailed near Minya al-Qamh city, about 70 kms north of Cairo.

Almost 130 million people 18 or older have received at least one dose of a vaccine, which is equivalent to 50.4 per cent of the total adult population.

"Vaccines are our only way out of this pandemic and the premier will exhaust every avenue he has in order to get more needles into arms of Ontarians sooner," the spokesperson said.
