Buried more than 10 metres below the famous battlefield is Maison Blanche, a centuries-old quarry that became a secret hideout for hundreds of Canadian soldiers in the weeks leading up to Vimy Ridge.

In addition to attending commemorative events, the students will have the opportunity to visit other World War memorials during their time in Europe.

Students from Fanshawe College helped with organizing Saturday's event, which commemorated Canada's WWI victory and paid tribute to the Canadians who fought in the battle.
