Union Events promoters released a statement on Twitter and the official X-Fest feed early Saturday afternoon, after the gates were scheduled to open for the two-day alternative rock festival.

Seventeen people were taken to hospital for substance abuse issues from the Chasing Summer music festival that took place at Fort Calgary on the weekend.

Emslie had hinted that Centre of Gravity might not return to Kelowna because the festival was losing money.
