Health researchers who were wrongly fired by the British Columbia government are calling for an independent public inquiry into how a painstakingly built program could be undone so quickly.

A mystery over why the provincial government fired eight health researchers in 2012 took another turn today, when new documents showing the RCMP never investigated the workers were made public.

The B.C. government has settled a claim with a former Health Ministry employee, saying its decision to fire him was a regrettable mistake.
