The Rainy Youth Run
Saturday, May, 17 Today was not a good day to run the Blue Nose Youth Run. The weather was horrible. It was raining, windy and cold. There were 3000 kids and some of their parents running the Youth run and it was quite crowded! I had a few cramps at the beginning of the run but they went away at the 1km marker. I w
Apr 23, 2011

We did it!
Well CONGRATULATIONS to Team Global! We were all successful in crossing our respective finish lines this past weekend. As far as my 10K run was concerned, the weather was perfect, the entire course was lined with folks cheering us on, and I set a personal best time - 57 minutes! I have to admit that it was harder t
Apr 23, 2011

Now what?
The euphoria of the run is over but the memories and appreciation linger still. My Global team mates Andrea, Patricia, & Lauren have all shown what it takes to prepare, to compete, and to inspire. I have a new appreciation for them for the Blue Nose organizers and volunteers who made the 5 th r
Apr 23, 2011

Run, Forest, run! Tuesday May 20,2008
In recent weeks, my husband has taken to calling me Forest...and while at times along the race route, I felt a bit "gumpy", all in all it was a truly amazing experience! I was pretty proud of my final time, 1 hour and 17 odd minutes. When I crossed that finish line, I felt like I still had more steam....at least
Apr 23, 2011

Sunday morning 5:30 am
Can't sleep anymore. Just want to get started. Feeling pretty nervous and excited. Loaded up on carbs last night and plan to have pancakes this morning. Just a few hours to go and it will be all over. Drove the Dartmouth side of the route last night looking for good camera locations.
Apr 23, 2011

Final Preparation May 17, 2008
I have started to set aside the "pile" of stuff I need to bring tomorrow. Still not sure of the wardrobe. Will I need layers, short sleeves, long sleeves, hat? I have all the Blue Nose information (the organizers have been awesome) and I pick up my timer tonight. I bought a new pair of socks so my feet won't be
Apr 23, 2011

the good fortune that comes…
‘To climb steep hills requires a slow pace at first.’ Shakespeare Well, here I am. I’ve picked up the running kits - for my son Regan soon to run in his 3 rd Blue Nose Marathon - and mine with my timing chip. I’ve met the volunteers and Myles the mascot. The time for excuses will soon b
Apr 23, 2011

My Muscles Keep Me Humble48 hours from now, my 10k will be complete (that is, if all goes according to plan). I have to admit that this past week I’ve struggled with my runs more than usual. After filling up at the gas station last weekend I decided that I needed to take serious steps towards lessening my carbon...Apr 23, 2011

“Almost” Final Thoughts Friday May 16
I still can't quite believe I'm doing this!? I'm as prepared as I can be given my lack of experience in marathon running. Having never done anything like this before, I don't know what to expect, nor what I'm in for...and perhaps that's a good thing. I'm excited about attending the many events surr
Apr 23, 2011

Cheetah, cheetah, cheetah! Wednesday May 14I can’t believe Marathon day is so close. I attended the sponsor reception last night and won a Blue Nose all weather hat. Ha! Let’s hope I need it to keep the SUN off. The reception brought it all home to me that this was really going to happen. I went for a 40 minute run last night around...Apr 23, 2011
