A record day for the Calgary Children’s Foundation and Pledge Day. We raised a record amount of $329,340 dollars.
Pledge Day is our 12 and a half hour live radio radio-thon. Friday, December 2nd we broadcast at our NEW location: in the lobby of Corus Centre, home to News Talk 770’s studios. News Talk broadcast from 6am – 6:30pm, asking listeners to phone-in or go on-line and make donations that will benefit kids in-need throughout the Calgary area. We focus on small, grassroots charities who are not able to hold massive fund-raisers or manage sophisticated communications. Pledges of financial support are called in by News Talk 770 listeners, individuals, retailers and corporations for the Calgary Children’s Foundation. Those who have raised funds for the Calgary Children’s Foundation throughout the months prior to Pledge Day are welcome to present their cheques on-air. We also invite local celebrities and sports personalities to be a part of the radio program.
The Calgary Children’s Foundation fills a unique void in our community, providing a safety net for children who might otherwise fall through the cracks. Since 1992, the CCF has raised money for small but critically important charities that help physically, mentally, financially and socially challenged children reach their full potential. Many of these charities do not have the means to fundraise for themselves or only need a small amount of money to make a big difference in a child’s life. From a preschool that prepares neglected and abused kids for grade one to a summer camp for special needs children.
Some of the many charities that receive funding from the CCF include:
