Prince Charles turns 65 on Thursday.

The longest-waiting heir to the throne in Britain’s history, the Prince of Wales moved into that role since 1952, when he was 3 years old.

Palace officials said Wednesday the future king will mark his milestone birthday representing his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, at the Commonwealth heads of government meeting in Sri Lanka.

Often known for his variety of expressions, we take a light-hearted look at the many faces and sides of  Britain’s future king:
