Former Burnaby teachers open thrift store with proceeds going back into education system

Former school district employees in Burnaby have opened a special thrift store, with all of the profits going straight back to the education system.

The retirees, most of them former teachers, raised more than $30,000 to convert a warehouse on Kingsway into the thrift store.

Money from everything they sell is donated back to five Burnaby schools to help needy families pay for items like art and music supplies, sports equipment and extra-curricular activities.
