WINNIPEG – A manslaughter charge has now been laid in the death of a man who plunged from a third-floor window of a downtown Winnipeg hotel.

Christopher Paul Maier, a 42-year-old Winnipegger, died in hospital after he was found critically injured late Monday night outside the Royal Albert Hotel.

Maier fell from his suite after fleeing to the room for safety, followed by a person who had just been in a fight with him, police said.

Winnipeg resident Adam John Perrier, 33, also faces other charges, including break and enter and forcible confinement.

He’s being held in custody.
