CALGARY – The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is now investigating Tuesday’s officer-involved shooting in the community of Albert Park/Radisson Heights.
It happened in the 2800 block of 12 Avenue S.E. around 11 a.m.
Ruth Curtis witnessed the incident, and says an officer shot at a man who tried to run police over.

Curtis says the man had been sitting in the truck for several hours before police approached him. She says police fired three shots, which was shocking to see.
“We’ve lived here for six months and this has never happened, we’ve never seen this before,” adds Curtis.
The suspect slammed the vehicle he was driving into a nearby home. Three people were inside the house at the time, but no one was injured.
The man who was shot remains in serious, potentially life-threatening condition.
Calgary Police say no officers were injured.
“Officers were in the area conducting another investigation,” says Calgary Police Staff Sargeant Scott Todd. “It’s my understanding someone approached the officers and asked them to investigate this vehicle. As officers approached the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee. They told him to get out, take your hands off the steering wheel and step out slowly, put your hands in the air…he didn’t do so and that’s when they opened fire.”
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) continues to investigate the shooting, as is standard in any officer-involved incident.
