SASKATOON – It’s all aboard for passengers heading to the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) from one of Saskatoon’s newest neighbourhoods.

Saskatoon Transit has introduced the new university direct #3 route from Stonebridge to U of S campus from Monday to Friday, except on statutory holidays.

The service will operate at 7:40 a.m. and 7:55 a.m. until the end of April, 2014.

Buses will make stops through Stonebridge similar to route 17 but then go directly to campus.

The city said route 17 was experiencing significant capacity issues, requiring extra buses during morning peak periods.

“Transit customers don’t need to worry about finding and paying for parking, and the cost to commute is less than driving your own vehicle,” says Bob Howe, Saskatoon Transit manager.

University direct service began earlier this summer from the Lakeview, Lakewood and Lakeridge neighbourhoods. Other areas are being evaluated.
