TORONTO – Joffrey Lupul could be back soon for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but the news wasn’t so good regarding Tyler Bozak.

Bozak is expected to miss at least 7-10 days with a lower-body injury, coach Randy Carlyle said after the Leafs’ 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.

“With Bozak, he’ll be a little while here,” Carlyle said. “That could get updated here as we go forward until we get a proper assessment.”

Bozak suffered the injury Friday night in Columbus. He did not play the final eight minutes in the loss to the Blue Jackets and the team announced about an hour before faceoff against the Penguins that the 27-year-old centre would not be in the lineup.

Lupul missed the past two games with a bone bruise in his foot, but Carlyle said a CT scan revealed no fracture. The winger is expected to travel with the team on its road trip to Western Canada.

“We’re hopeful that he will play in Edmonton on Tuesday night,” Carlyle said.

With Bozak and Lupul out against Pittsburgh, Carter Ashton was called up from the Toronto Marlies and played 11:34.

Bozak has three goals and three assists in 11 games this season. Lupul has six goals and four assists in 10 games.
