The search for missing Coquitlam man Shin Noh continues in East Vancouver

Coquitlam senior Shin Noh has been missing for more than a month, but his family is not giving up hope.

Volunteers shifted their focus on Saturday to look through neighbourhoods in East Vancouver, as they have received numerous tips that there have been sightings there and in the Downtown Eastside.

The 64-year-old has been missing for 37 days, when he went out for a walk at about 10 a.m. in the morning.

He suffers from Alzheimer’s and his family says he would often forget where he lives in order to get home safely. Turns out, when he would forget in the past, he would get a ride home from people.

Sam Noh, Shin’s son, says they did not realize their dad was being driven home by strangers when he had been lost before. He asked the Good Samaritans to drop him off on the corner near where he lived, so that he did not get in trouble from his wife.

“He obviously never told us about this,” says Sam, “so it’s a learning experience for us and any family, you know, that have a family member with Alzheimer’s.”

Sam says it makes sense that his dad might be in East Vancouver. “There are lots of places to eat for free, there’s a lot of clothing here to pick up, and plus, my dad loves Canada Place,” he says.
